The Spiderwire Stealth Glow Vis Braid is a new product from Spiderwire that is gaining popularity.
Spiderwire’s top selling product line is the Stealth series, and their most popular color is the Low Vis Green because it is difficult to see underneath the water. It was only a matter of time before Spiderwire combined the low underwater visibility of the standard stealth product line, and added a feature allowing the line to glow above the water, a perfect combination.
Spiderwire 125-Yard Stealth Glow-Vis Braid Fishing Line
We have already reviewed the basic Spiderwire Stealth Braid line here so I won’t go into quite as much detail as a lot of the features are the same. In short, the stealth series is an extremely popular braided line that is very reliable, and probably a bit cheaper than other braided lines. Its super strong, retains color, extra sensitive, and is just an all around good line. Like I said, if you want a detailed review of the stealth series, check the link above.
What makes this line unique is the above water visibility. Spiderwire has put tiny UV reflectors into the coating of the braided line which is what gives it the “glow” look. Below the water, the line takes on the standard low vis green color you are used to because UV cannot penetrate the water.
Most people agree that when you first use this line, the “glow” isn’t extremely noticeable at first. Where it really shines, is when you compare it side by side to the standard low vis green color. Its drastically different, and much more visible.
What makes this new feature interesting, is that it improves the usability of this line in certain situations. I’ll give you an example…
During the summer months, when I am out bass fishing, I am usually fishing a drop shot out deep on structure. Typically, I throw braid with a fluorocarbon leader any time I am using a drop shot. If you have fished a drop shot before, then you know that many times the bites are extremely subtle. You have to be super aware of your rod and line at all times. Many times, the only indication that you have a bit is the movement in your line. The bite is so soft that its almost discernible from the feel in your rod alone. This is a situation where this line completely destroys the rest. Being able to see that line at all times in a situation like drop shotting is key, and it will help you catch more fish.
In other situations, this line will of course, perform just as well as the standard Spiderwire Stealth Braid so no harm there. I feel like this combination of features would probably be good for somebody on a budget, who wants to throw braided line that can be used in a wide variety of situations. You can buy a pack of this line, spool it on all your rigs and be good to go.
One last note is that of course, you are an avid fisherman and are looking to pick this line up, you can substantially save on the cost by buying larger spools which makes sense if you are comfortable with this line, and know that you will need it eventually.
